Named for the Southeastern Indigenous Nation of Catawba. The Yehasuri are known as the "People of the River". They lived along the Catawba river in the Carolinas and in southern Virginia for thousands of year before colonization. Many Yehasuri peoples integrated with the Africans whose presence increased in the region, forming African and Indigenous alliances and lineages.
